The finalists have been chosen for this years Shoals Woman of the Year, presented by Shoals Woman Magazine. All five ladies are deserving I’m sure, but this year, they have chosen one as their finalists that I know personally. With the passion and perseverance that I have never seen, Debbie Darby Rappuhn, volunteers at the Florence-Lauderdale Animal Shelter. We had worked at the shelter back in late winter and Miss Deb was there every Saturday taking the dogs out to stretch and play, making sure they had food and water on days the shelter is closed. It was her idea to repaint many of the areas and while the labor came at a reduced price, she paid it out of pocket. I don’t think I have seen anyone love animals as much as she does. She constantly posts about dogs and cats needing forever homes, adoptions and fostering on facebook and also provides updates on what is happening with each animal. If you go to Florence-Lauderdale Animal Shelter on facebook, you’ll see her hard work.
For her efforts, she is a finalist in this years Shoals Woman of the Year. Just being nominated is an honor I'm sure. Her work is very deserving of the title "Shoals Woman of the Year" If pound puppies and kittens could vote, they’d vote for Debbie. Now, if I could only convince her to like the color terracotta,…… Good Luck Deb!!
