Singing River Statue,… Fail,….

1348463394_8d46

Sorry Sheffield,… sorry artist Audwin McGee,… sorry Dave Anderson and Bill Matthews,… that statue literally,…. for lack of a better term, sucks.

While this statue and future statues are to commemorate the Shoals musical heritage,… not Native American Heritage as the name Singing River suggests, my suggestion would be drop the Singing River affiliation with this statue and the other three future statues. The Singing River has to do with local Indian heritage not the musical heritage of the Shoals area as it was the Native Americans name for the river.  Don’t try to mesh the two. And please Florence,… don’t allow one of the aluminum cans in Florence.

  1. Fail, Adwin is a great artist. He's a damm republican but a great artist. He may not have felt like making an aluminum indian since Native American has been an influence in most of his great work I have seen. Nobody gives a damm about the Indians anyhow. Adwin is as much Indian as Tom Hendrix BTW.

  2. I'm with you OB. This musicial statue just doesn't do it for me.

We have a bad history of art in public places. Please don't.
