Dear God,… Why?

I keep seeing this picture pop up on facebook and I have really got to disagree with it. The t-shirt says, Dear God, Why do you allow so much violence in schools? signed a concerned student. God’s reply, Dear concerned student, I’m not allowed in schools. God,…….. First of all one cannot know the mind of God to even begin to guess what He might say in return. Second, it isn’t the schools place to teach about God. While I do believe in the Christian faith, it isn’t or shouldn’t be the teachers and schools responsibility to provide students with religious views. That task should fall on the parents. There are too many religious sects of just the Christian faith for schools to teach children about God. Do you want a teacher providing your child with Jehovah Witness material or Methodist material when you are of the Baptist faith? By the way, I’ve always wanted to greet a Jehovah Witness at the door naked just so they’d go away.
God is still allowed in schools through each student that professes to be a Christian. No one can take that away from them. No one is saying you can't say a private prayer before a test or a ballgame. Religious views should be taught at home. Or if you can afford it, there are private schools that are supported by different sects of Christianity. Personally I don’t blame the lack of religion for violence, I blame divorce. But that is another blog for another day.

  1. Absolutely right! And if teachers taught religion routinely they might teach some views antithetical to the child's parents.
