The Good, The Bad, The Ugly,….

What a day for college football yesterday. Exciting plays and an upset or two along the way. Southern Cal beating Stanford and playing like world beaters after firing Lane Kiffin. I laugh almost out loud at the thought.

The Good,…. While it was a win, Alabama beat a physical Mississippi State team. A win is a win and Bama is just glad to get out of Starkville with the win. auburn on the other hand almost gave away a win but in the end it was gifted back to them as the Georgia defenders apparently don’t know how to knock down a pass instead of try to intercept it on 4th down. That goes back to coaching. Back to Mark Richt.

The Bad,…. Turnovers. 4 of them by Bama. Bad, bad, bad. Two interceptions and two fumbles won’t cut it against a team like auburn. Bama simply cannot give the ball away 4 times and expect to win the game. Injuries also plagued the Bama players. TJ Yeldon is wearing a boot, Brian Vogler is on crutches, Jarrick Williams is also injured. Don’t know the extent of the injuries but hopefully they can heal before the game on the plains.

The Ugly,…. auburn letting Georgia come from behind to take the lead in the 4th quarter. The 2 point conversion try wasn’t pretty either. If they let Bama have 500 yards of offense then the barners will need another lucky catch or play to upset the Tide. Bama’s line play was ugly as well. The offensive line had trouble and most of it centered around,…. the center. Run blocking was okay but pass blocking was off. Credit the Bulldog defense for playing well and physical.

Style points,…. Alabama gets style points for taking a knee after the Bulldogs turned the ball over on 4th down deep in their own territory. Bama could have tried to score again. But no, they decided to win with class. That’s style points.
