The Heisman Has Lost Its Luster,….

A thug,… yes a thug has won the Heisman Trophy. The prestigious award for college footballs most talented player, has gone to a thug. Say it ain’t so Buckwheat,… The Heisman was intended to go to the college player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work. Wikipedia/Heisman Jameis Winston is that thug.

Winston did have a great year on the field. He was the best player ON the field. You cannot take that part away from him. But his off the field behavior is suspect. Although no rape charges were filed against the freshman, by their own admission, Florida St players said that they watched Winston have sex with the girl that was in a drunken state AND they wanted to participate too. So much for integrity.

No, Jameis Winston did not deserve the Heisman. 115 voters even left him off their ballot. That in itself says something. But then again so does the overwhelming votes he received. And that isn’t a good thing.

So who deserved to win the trophy? I really liked Andre Williams from Boston College. The guy had over 2000 yards rushing and was almost unstoppable. Of course AJ McCarron too,… he had a super year. My problem was not with AJ himself but the Bama fans trying to make the argument saying look what he has done in his career. The Heisman isn’t a career type award. It is based on a single season. But anyone of the other five deserved it more so than Winston.

Here is a video of last nights winner being announced. Notice he does not acknowledge his fellow competitors,…

  1. In my opinion, this was a piss-poor choice.

  2. A disappointing choice.

But I'm not impressed with John Heisman, anyway.
That 222-0 blowout of Ga. Tech over Cumberland is why. You don't humiliate an opponent like that!
