Bama’s Toughest Games In 2011,……

Can you feel it? Can you feel the excitement? The butterflies? The tension building as the season nears? I sure can. Although Alabama opens with Mid-American Conference foe, Kent St, the butterflies are here my Crimson friends. Partly because of the unknown quarterback situation. Partly because it is the first game. And Kent St certainly cannot be over looked. Bama needs to prepare for each game as it is the BCS Championship game and take nothing for granted. Overlook no opponent. With that said, here are my toughest games Bama will have this year.

Bama-Penn St.,… This series is one of the classiest in college football, dating back to when it was Bear vs Joe Pa. Joe is still there reeling in the wins and making sure no one beats the all time win leader. While Bama has the personnel to blow out the Nittany Lions, the game is in Happy Valley with a loud home team crowd and Bama will still have an unproven quarterback in that kind of situation.

Bama-Arkansas,… While this is a home game for Bama, the Hogs possess one of the best, if not the best wide receiving corps in the country. Arkansas will test the Bama secondary and test them often. Bama will have to bring in their A game to try to shut down the Hogs passing attack.

Bama-Florida,…. While the Gators could stumble early, because of a new coach and system, Bama plays Florida in the Swamp. You can bet former Texas coach in waiting Will Muschamp will have the Gators chomping as they welcome Bama into Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. A definite trap game for Bama after playing Arkansas.

Bama-LSU,… At the start of fall practice, this game scared me a lot more. It still worries me but with some of the LSU players off field antics as of late,… it still scares me. This is the most talented team Bama will face other than Florida all year. A win here will all but secure a trip to Atlanta for the SEC Championship and possible National Championship. Provided Bama gets by Penn St., Arkansas and Florida.

Bama-Mississippi St,… Will the trap games ever go away? Dan Mullen has done a nice job with the Bulldogs from Starkville. I haven’t dreaded games with them since Jackie Sherrill was there. And that wasn’t often. Although Sylvester Croom beat Alabama I didn’t dread playing them. But that’s about all he did. The game is in Starkville and you know those cowbells will be loud.
