December 30th, 2007 lives in the hearts of many as a tragic day here in the Shoals area. An Air Evac helicopter crashed near Mount Mills Rd which is close to the Barton area while responding to a call of a lost hunter. The crash killed all three members, Alan Bragwell, pictured left, medic,… Mike Baker, center, pilot and Tiffany Miles, nurse.
The words used to describe all three were devoted, irreplaceable and kind-hearted. It has been five years since the accident and they have not been forgotten by their piers. Which is a testament to their service and dedication to the entire Shoals area. Often times EMS workers go without praise for a job well done. Yet they are always there when we need them, at all hours of the day or night. That takes dedication and a certain kind of person to do what they do every day. These people are the unsung heroes of our towns and communities. I am lucky enough to have a few of them on my facebook page and do you want to know the one thing that stands out to me? They never complain about their job. Never.
Thank you Air Evac and all of the EMS workers, fire and police that provide services that are beyond a price.
