A Texas company says it plans to spend $3.5 billion to build a massive theme park in northwest Alabama.
Dubbed DreamVision Soundscape, the park would cover approximately 1,400 acres in the Shoals area, according to a release from the DreamVision Co.
The company, an entertainment company that says it will focus on CGI animation, live action motion pictures, Broadway theatrical productions, television, music and theme park resort destinations, said the park would be privately funded.
DreamVision said the park would employ between 15,000 and 20,000 local residents – the Florence-Muscle Shoals metro area's workforce totals about 69,000, according to the latest figures from the Alabama Department of Labor.
The company didn't disclose additional information, such as an exact location or project timeline, but said more information would be disclosed at a press conference on Feb. 11 at the Marriott Shoals Hotel.
