Lauderdale County Board of Education Shenanigans?,…..

I just ran across this post from a concerned parent in Lauderdale County. Apparently the school board hasn't been too forthcoming with information about these meetings. If you are concerned about the future of the schools either from a parent standpoint or an alum,... you might want to check into these meetings and see if the board is indeed trying to avoid the public.

I recommend you pay close attention to these dates and attend at least one, if not more of these community meetings if possible. Unbeknownst to most of us, our school system is more than half way into a 5 year study that looks at the feasibility and benefit of combining all Lauderdale county schools into one cohesive system. What does this mean? That in the not so distant future there could be no more Central, Waterloo, Wilson etc. The thought is to have an East Lauderdale and a West Lauderdale.
I won’t input my own personal feelings here but I will say that the lack of publicity for these meetings is very distasteful. The goal for these is to obtain community input on the matter, yet the community knows very little about it.
I urge you to show up, be informed and voice your opinion, whatever that opinion may be.
Thursday February 21 at LCHS
Monday February 25 at the Board Annex on Middle Road
Tuesday February 26 at Central School
Thursday March 7 at Brooks
All are scheduled 5:00-7:00pm
